Howdy
I’m Abby, a photojournalist turned aerospace technician based on the Space Coast.
Where I work
I currently work for Blue Origin, where I help build the New Glenn rocket. Day-to-day I deal with the hydraulic, pneumatic, and monopropellant systems — as well as landing gear structures — for the forward and aft sections of GS1, the first stage of New Glenn.
Outside of my work at Blue I am an independent photojournalist and photographer, something I have done for the past eight years. You can view some of my work on my portfolio.
Previous to my work in aerospace I was Head of Design at the Tahlequah Daily Press, where I managed the daily production of two newspapers — the Tahlequah Daily Press and Claremore Progress — and the magazines associated with each property. In addition to my work on the production side, I was responsible for sports photography, photo editing, copy editing, and occasional writing assignments.
What I do for fun:
When I’m not building orbital rockets, you can often find me working on my high-power hobby rockets. I am a NAR Level 1 certified rocketeer and I’m currently working towards my Level 2 high-power certification.
In addition to rocketry, I also enjoy working on 3D printed models, producing music, and taking pictures of rockets.
